BASF and SINOPEC inaugurate world-scale-isononanol plant in Maoming/China

  • First isononanol (INA) plant in China to serve growing demand for next-generation plasticizers

BASF and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC) today inaugurated their world-scale isononanol (INA) plant in Maoming, China. This is the first INA plant in China and will serve the growing demand for next-generation plasticizers.

BASF doubles production capacity of Hexamoll® DINCH® to 200,000 metric tons

  • Increasing demand of non-phthalate plasticizer Hexamoll® DINCH® worldwide
  • Successful start-up of second production plant in Ludwigshafen ensures supply security

BASF has doubled capacity of its non-phthalate plasticizer Hexamoll DINCH from 100,000 metric tons to 200,000 metric tons per year at its site in Ludwigshafen, Germany. With a second Hexamoll DINCH plant BASF will satisfy growing customer demand and strengthen supply security worldwide while continuing to ensure consistently high quality. The plant has started up successfully and the expanded capacity is available from now on.

BASF and SINOPEC break ground on world-scale isononanol plant

Shanghai, China; Ludwigshafen, Germany – January 24, 2014 – BASF and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC) broke ground today on the construction of its world-scale isononanol (INA) plant in Maoming Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, Maoming, China. At start-up in 2015, the plant, which is the first of its kind in China, will serve the increasing market demand for next-generation plasticizers. A newly-formed 50-50 joint venture company has been created, BASF MPCC Company Limited. The new plant will bring around 100 new jobs in Maoming.

BASF received SolVin Award Innovation Special Prize

For the fifth time Solvin has granted awards to innovative projects that promote the image of soft PVC as a versatile, commercial and safe material. The projects are divided into three categories that represent the values of the SolVin Award for PVC Innovation: Innovation, Design and Recycling.

BASF was awarded the “SolVin Award Innovation - Special Price”. The project “Medical devices with Hexamoll® DINCH® in blood product applications” was nominated and recognized in the category Innovations. The non-phthalate plasticizer Hexamoll DINCH is used as a substitute for DEHP for whole blood collection systems, platelet pooling sets and paediatric platelet storage bags. This was shown in a combined project with BASF, Sanquin and Renolit. The companies involved have proven that Hexamoll DINCH can be used in medical devices without any technical constraints.

Next steps in establishment of world-scale isononanol plant in Maoming, China

  • Start of production expected in 2015
  • China’s first INA plant provides important feedstock for next-generation plasticizers
Beijing, China and Ludwigshafen, Germany – January 22, 2013- BASF and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (“Sinopec”) have completed a joint feasibility study and taken the next steps in the establishment of a world-scale isononanol (INA) plant in Maoming, Guangdong, China. Under the terms of the feasibility study, a new 50-50 joint venture will be formed, BASF MPCC Co. Ltd. Preapproval has been received from the Maoming Administration of Industry and Commerce for the name of the venture. The partners expect to begin production at the new plant around the middle of 2015.

PETRONAS and BASF terminate Heads of Agreement for joint project in Pengerang, Malaysia

Ludwigshafen, Germany and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – January 21, 2013 – BASF and PETRONAS announced today that the Heads of Agreement (HoA) between the two parties for a joint speciality chemicals venture within PETRONAS’ Refinery & Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project in Pengerang, Johor, has been terminated by mutual agreement.

BASF and SINOPEC Corp. sign Memorandum of Understanding to explore building a world-scale isononanol plant in Maoming, China

Shenzhen, China/Ludwigshafen, Germany – July 31, 2012 – BASF and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further strengthen their cooperation by jointly exploring the possibility of building a world-scale isononanol (INA) plant in Maoming Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, Maoming, China. The final scope of the investment will be determined following the outcome of the joint feasibility study, which is expected by the end of 2012.
